Doctors of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Ellen Holbrook grew up in San Diego, CA where she spent school breaks volunteering at local animal hospitals and attending and eventually teaching at horseback riding camps. She worked in a variety of veterinary clinics, from individually-owned small animal practices to corporate specialty and emergency hospitals. These experiences inspired her to pursue a career in

veterinary medicine. Dr. Holbrook earned her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health with a minor in Business Administration and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University, graduating from veterinary school in 2020. During vet school, she also completed graduate-level coursework in public health and data analysis and assisted with the transition to a new medical records software at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Throughout her childhood and schooling, she developed a second passion - working with individuals with disabilities - and was an active part of several such organizations, including Best Buddies International.

Today, her professional interests are many, but she particularly enjoys dermatology, cardiology, and neurology, as well as small ruminant/camelid medicine and small animal nutrition, and is an active member of the American Associates of Bovine Practitioners and Small Ruminant Practitioners.

Dr. Ellen has been part of the Colmey Veterinary Hospital family since 2020 and purchased the practice from Dr. Colmey in 2023. She is happy to be an active part of the Livingston community and is grateful for the opportunity to help her neighbors and their animals. Dr. Ellen and her husband, Jacob, enjoy taking advantage of the Montana lifestyle, including hiking, camping, and hunting. They dream of having a small hobby farm with alpacas and dairy goats and training pack llamas. To learn more about Dr. Holbrook and the history of CVH, read about Our Story.

As a veterinarian committed to comprehensive animal care, Dr. Caitlin combines her extensive training with a compassionate, individualized approach to each patient. Her background in public health and epidemiology provides a unique perspective on preventive care and population health management.

Her journey in veterinary medicine began in Madison, Virginia, where she developed my passion for animal care through years of involvement in 4-H and Pony Club. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky, earning a B.S. in Equine Science and Management, followed by a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology. During this time, she gained valuable experience working with the thoroughbred racing industry, at small animal hospitals, and at the renowned Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital.

Caitlin Shilan

Her veterinary education at Lincoln Memorial University-CVM helped her discover a passion for specialized areas of animal care, including: Sports Medicine, Rehabilitation, Cardiology, Nutrition, and Multi-species Care.

She believes in creating partnerships with her clients to provide the best possible care for their pets. Whether treating pocket pets, reptiles, dogs, cats, horses, or large animals, she is committed to delivering exceptional veterinary care with compassion and expertise.

Outside the clinic, you'll find her riding her off-track thoroughbred Hercules, exploring Montana's trails with her German Shepherd or enjoying outdoor adventures with her fiancé. She’s thrilled to be part of the Livingston community and looks forward to serving you and your pets!

As a graduate of the Class of 2025, Dr. Skoglund is very eager to be a part of the team at Colmey Veterinary Hospital. She enjoys the variety of medicine that mixed animal work provides, but has special interest in dentistry, surgery, dermatology, and reproduction. Working with all species of animals interests her, including dogs, cats, cattle, and horses, as well as small ruminants, camelids, poultry, and others! She is currently a member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners.

Outside of her work, Dr. Lauren appreciates Montana for its opportunities to hike, camp, fish, hunt, and ski. She is excited to be a part of a smaller, close-knit community like Livingston, and to support both the animals and people of the community alike! When she can, Dr. Lauren relishes the chance to travel around the state, the country, and to other countries around the world to experience different cultures along with the unique sites and activities. She dreams of having a small hobby farm where she can raise chickens, a few head of cattle, and a few horses for trail riding and camping in the mountains. She currently has a cat named Kinase who occasionally travels with her on road trips when the opportunity arises.

Dr. Lauren Skoglund grew up in New Richmond, Wisconsin, where she enjoyed weekends spent on the lake at the cabin, bird hunting with family and dogs, and spending any time she could outdoors. She shadowed several veterinarians in the area, and grew to love working with people, science, and of course, animals. This combination of interests led her to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. Dr. Skoglund attended Montana State University in Bozeman for her Bachelors in Science- Biology degree, and worked for the American Simmental Association for a short time after. She was a part of the pioneer class for the South Dakota State University and University of Minnesota 2+2 program, where she spent her first two years of veterinary school at the former, and her last two years at the latter.

Veterinary Technicians and Assistants

Corbin H., LVT

Lead Veterinary Technician

Hey y’all- I’m Corbin and will probably be the one that talks funny when you walk into the clinic. I’m a transplant from Danville, Virginia. I graduated from Virginia Tech in Wildlife Management, with the only vision being that I wanted to live in the Rockies at some point in my life.

My pup, Darla, and I moved out here in 2019 with no plan other than to just figure it out. Colmey Veterinary welcomed me with open arms and has taught me everything that I know about the veterinary medicine world, for which I am so grateful. In our free time, Darla and I spend time doing whatever activity leads us outside to enjoy this beautiful state of Montana.

Janell E.

Veterinary Assistant

Hello everyone! My name is Janell Edgemon and I have lived here going on 5 years now. I moved here from Nevada, a state that has shaped me into the person I am today. From packing mules through the Sierra Nevadas, obtaining

my bachelor's degree in Animal Science and running cattle on one of the biggest ranches, large animal and livestock vet medicine has become a passion of mine. I now live in the beautiful Paradise Valley with my two daughters and an array of barnyard animals, and I look forward to what this beautiful state has to offer.

Rylee P.

Veterinary Assistant and Customer Service Representative

Hi everyone, I'm Rylee and I’m from Miles City, Montana. I kept myself occupied as a child by participating in 4-H, FFA, rodeo, track, hunting, and fishing. I attended Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, after high school to earn my associate's degree in Agricultural Business and to judge livestock. I've always loved animals, and Colmey Veterinary allows me to keep showing people and their pets how much I care!
